Firas Ahmad
Co-Founder and Group Chief Executive Officer
Pursuing his vision of building a digital commerce ecosystem in East Africa, Firas co-founded Azampay in 2016 and currently serves as the Group CEO. He has over 15 years of executive and strategic experience in startups and expanding high-growth companies in the areas of Fintech, Financial Services, Energy, Technology, Media & Telecommunications in emerging markets.
He is a graduate of Georgetown and Harvard Universities. In his spare time, Firas observes food trucks so as to guess their annual net and gross margin.
Beatrice Alphonce
Director of Information Technology
Beatrice understands technology’s mission-critical role in today’s world and has a proven track record building and maintaining connectivity and operations for enterprise-level systems.
Beatrice joined AzamPay as the Director of IT in March 2020. Previously, she held numerous technology roles at Airtel, one of the leading telecommunications companies in Tanzania, where she was responsible for IT Operations Management, Business Intelligence, IT-related Software and Applications, Mobile Money IT services, and products, including management.
She holds an Undergraduate Degree in Computer Science from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Beatrice is excited to be part of the fast-paced, collaborative environment at AzamPay and is looking forward to innovate on new products and services.
Ahmed Jarwan
Director of Operations
Ahmed connects the dots for supply chains and operations across complex informal markets. His career spans over a decade within the Azam Group where he held roles and responsibilities across marketing, operations, and logistics functions.
In 2016, Ahmed was appointed as the Director of Operations for AzamPay where he conceptualised, implemented, and then refined the first Digital B2B logistics platform in Tanzania.
Ahmed is a graduate of the United States International University Africa. He is always looking out for possible problems to resolve them proactively.
Taris Kasoga
Director of Finance
Taris recognizes the impact of digitization on the finance functions of the business and is at the forefront of this process in Tanzania. He joined AzamPay as Director of Finance in July 2019 and implemented a series of financial investment strategies that optimized the company for both short- and long-term growth. His responsibilities include all financial functions within AzamPay including Accounting, Auditing, Treasury, Revenue Assurance, and Corporate Finance.
Taris brings over 8 years of experience from Tigo Tanzania, one of the leading telecommunication companies in the country.
He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Dar es Salaam and is a registered Associate Accountant with the National Board of Accountants and Auditors (NBAA).

Ibrahim Malando
Chief Commercial Officer
Ibrahim is a veteran of the Mobile Money industry. As an early member of Airtel Money's team, he helped grow the company from its founding into the third-largest wallet in Tanzania.
In 2018, he joined AzamPay as the Director of Wallet and quickly gained a reputation for achieving outcomes and was subsequently appointed Chief Commercial Officer. He now oversees all business operations for AzamPay across the region.
Ibrahim is a graduate of the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland. Whenever possible, Ibrahim is strategizing the next big mobile money disruption in Tanzania.
Getrude Mpangile
Director of Legal and Statutory Affairs
Gertrude navigates complex regulatory and legal frameworks for AzamPay. She is a practising Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania and Subordinate Courts. Gertrude joined AzamPay in 2016 from Airtel where she worked in Commercial and Corporate Legal Affairs. She now oversees all legal and regulatory affairs for the company.
Gertrude brings a wealth of leadership experience to the company and has participated in numerous international leadership programs, including at the Swedish Institute and the Gothenburg City Council in Sweden. She further participated in the Youth Leadership Training program under the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung, a German Foundation. Gertrude holds a Bachelor of Law (LLB Hons) from the University of Dar es Salaam.
Francis Ndenje
Director of Human Resources
Francis draws together the human touch across AzamPay. He joined the company in May 2019 and leads the Human Resources (HR) Department overseeing all employee-related matters. Francis has over 14 years of experience in HR across a number of sectors including NGO, Telecom, Fintech and Banking. He has expertise in designing, launching, and leading innovative programs to enhance employee experience, corporate social responsibility, business performance, and organizational change.
A graduate of the University of Dar es Salaam, Francis brings a fresh approach to people management focusing on transforming the old school HR to be more relevant, realistic, and millennial friendly!
Bilaal Ramjaun
Group Chief Financial Officer
Bilaal has a passion for applying emerging technologies and data science across business functions. He has 12+ years of experience in the Corporate Finance and Financial Services. He has a proven track record of embedding robust financial infrastructure and sound financial ecosystems across organizations to deliver high-quality financial and management information.
Bilaal is actively involved in the positioning of AzamPay as a financial-technology solutions provider in East Africa. He is responsible for the commercialization of AzamPay’s payment solutions and value-added services both regionally and globally.
Bilaal is an Oxford Brookes Finance Graduate. He is a Certified Accountant from the ACCA, a Certified Project Management Specialist, and is also an Associate of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. He leads AzamPay’s Corporate Finance and Risk Management functions, and a team of top-notch data science professionals.
